From Turkey to Saudi Arabia: Which transfer windows remain open after Premier League deadline day

The Premier League’s summer transfer window closed after a deadline day that pushed total spending beyond £3bn, but several major leagues around the world remain open for business, giving clubs the opportunity to continue reshaping their squads.

There is no universal global deadline — each league sets its own dates, meaning players can still move from England to certain countries even after the domestic window has shut.

Turkey is among the nations still active, with the Super Lig’s deadline falling on Friday 5 September. Mohamed Salah is one of the summer’s headline departures to have landed there, joining Trabzonspor after leaving Liverpool.

In Scotland, Celtic, Rangers, Hearts and the rest of the Premiership clubs have until 3 September at 5pm to finalise any remaining business. Dutch Eredivisie clubs have until midnight on Wednesday 2 September, while Belgian sides have one additional day — until 3 September — to complete deals.

Portugal offers a more generous timeline, with Primeira Liga clubs able to do business until 15 September. The Saudi Pro League has the longest window of the major leagues still open, with its deadline not arriving until 12 October, leaving clubs in Riyadh and beyond with weeks to pursue targets.

In England, the Women’s Super League has its own separate deadline: clubs have until 11pm BST on Thursday 3 September to complete their summer recruitment.

Free agents, of course, remain outside any fixed window and can sign for clubs at any point throughout the season.
