Free after fourteen years with France, Deschamps favored for a season without a club
After leaving the French national team at the end of the 2026 World Cup, Didier Deschamps is given odds-on by British bookmakers to take a break before returning to a coaching position.
Didier Deschamps has been without a club since he left the French national team following the 2026 World Cup, after fourteen years leading the Bleus, handing over to Zinedine Zidane. The Bayonne-born coach has indicated he wants to continue his career, but without rushing.
British bookmakers make it their most likely scenario: an entire season without a position, priced at 2.25. This trend aligns with information from L’Équipe, according to which Deschamps has declined several approaches from Saudi clubs, preferring to take a breather before returning to work.
Saudi Arabia nonetheless remains the second most likely destination according to the operators, with odds of 3.5. Next comes Paris Saint-Germain (5), despite Luis Enrique’s recent contract extension until June 2030. Olympique de Marseille is priced at 7, Juventus Turin and the Italian national team at 10 each.
A return to Monaco, the club he managed before taking over the Bleus, is considered at 11. Real Madrid, where José Mourinho is in position, is listed at 16. The national teams of Brazil (20), Portugal (25) and Argentina (40) complete the table of possible destinations identified by the bookmakers.
