France enter the 2026 World Cup quarterfinals as both the form team and the overwhelming favourite with bettors, carrying a 5-0 record and a 14-2 goal differential into the last eight of the tournament.

Caesars Sports vice president of trading Craig Mucklow confirmed on Wednesday that Les Bleus have attracted more money in championship futures than any of the seven other quarter-finalists. “They are head and shoulders the most popular team remaining,” Mucklow said, crediting the combination of squad quality and the star power of Kylian Mbappé.

The public’s confidence has only grown through the knockout rounds. France’s Round of 32 victory over Sweden (3-0) and their Round of 16 win over Paraguay (1-0) ranked as the fifth- and eighth-highest-handled matches of the entire tournament at Caesars — and of the four games that drew more money, two involved the host United States. Among non-USA fixtures, France featured in two of the top six by wagering volume.

Mucklow also highlighted France’s group-stage shutout of Iraq as one of the best results of the tournament for bettors, with Mbappé scoring twice in a 3-0 win that proved profitable for Caesars customers.

France’s familiarity with the tournament’s latter stages adds to their appeal. Les Bleus reached the final in both 2018 — when they beat Croatia — and 2022, when they rallied to force extra time against Argentina before losing on penalties. That pedigree has kept bettors on board from the group stage through to the quarterfinals without hesitation.

Of the remaining contenders, Mucklow said Argentina represent the second-best result for bettors, followed by Norway and Spain. Defending champions Argentina have had a more turbulent route, coming close to a shock exit in the Round of 32 before advancing.

France open the quarterfinal round on Thursday afternoon. Spain face Belgium on Friday, while the last two quarter-finals — Norway vs. England and Argentina vs. Switzerland — are scheduled for Saturday.
