Lando Norris has revealed the full behind-the-scenes process behind his Madame Tussauds wax figure, releasing a YouTube vlog that follows the project from its first day of measurements to the grand unveiling of the finished work.

The McLaren driver explained that the process began in April 2025 and took roughly a year to complete. “This one’s been a very long time in the making,” Norris said in the video. “Today is the day all of that process starts. This is a year-long process because of how precise and how real they actually make these wax figures look — skin, hair, eyes, eyebrows, lashes, everything.”

The vlog documents each stage of the creation. The Madame Tussauds team matched his skin, hair and eye colour, took moulds of his hands and photographed him in a range of poses before settling on a final position. A full 3D scan was then taken to guide the sculptors.

Norris attended a first review of the clay figure, admitting mixed feelings about the experience. “I like it, but I don’t like looking at myself,” he said at that stage.

The reaction at the grand reveal was more animated. “I’m scared. Looks like he wants to fight me. Oh my god. Is this what I look like? Oh, it creeps me out,” the 2025 F1 champion said with a laugh on seeing the completed waxwork for the first time. “It’s so weird looking at myself. Thanks for making me a little bit taller as well. Pretty odd.”

Norris had also reflected on the pressure of choosing a pose ahead of the process. “I’ve got to choose a pose — am I celebrating? Am I not? I feel like that’s a lot of pressure to figure out how I want to be seen,” he said. “I think I’ll start by smiling, and we’ll go from there.”

The figure marks another milestone for the 25-year-old, who claimed the 2025 Formula 1 world championship with McLaren.
