Enzo Fernandez's brother mocks Bellingham after Argentina dump England from World Cup
Seba Fernandez posted a photo of Enzo celebrating with Bellingham on the turf, captioned 'Hahaha Bye, Bellingham' — a jab that landed awkwardly given Enzo's reported desire to join Bellingham at Real Madrid.
Enzo Fernandez’s brother Seba took aim at Jude Bellingham on social media after Argentina eliminated England in the World Cup semi-final on Wednesday, posting an Instagram story of Enzo celebrating with Bellingham sprawled on the turf and captioning it: “Hahaha Bye, Bellingham.”
The taunt drew a sharp reaction from followers, many of whom pointed out the irony: Enzo Fernandez, 25, is widely reported to covet a move to Real Madrid — the club where Bellingham currently plays. One user responded, “Bellingham much better than Enzo and you say bye bye,” while another wrote, “Brother laughing at Bellingham on his stories, who plays at the club where Enzo is dragging to be. You don’t have greatness or class to play in Madrid.”
Real Madrid moved to distance themselves from transfer speculation earlier this month, releasing a statement that read: “Real Madrid CF wishes to state that it has not made any efforts, either directly or indirectly, aimed at signing the aforementioned player and, furthermore, has no intention of pursuing such an operation.” The club added that it holds both Fernandez and Chelsea in high regard.
Chelsea, meanwhile, are determined to keep the Argentine midfielder. New head coach Xabi Alonso confirmed he has already held private talks with Fernandez, saying: “Yes, we have spoken. But as you can understand, what we have spoken about remains private.”
Seba Fernandez also posted a more affectionate tribute to his brother following the victory, writing: “I’m lost for words to describe just how proud and happy I am. The professional you are, brother, and the performance you put in today, it’s fair to say you’re making history. I love you.”
Whether the two midfielders eventually become teammates at the Bernabéu remains to be seen, but Seba’s post has ensured that any future reunion would carry a degree of extra edge.
