Dwayne Johnson to produce documentary on Black Ferns GOAT Portia Woodman-Wickliffe

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is backing a feature documentary on New Zealand and Black Ferns wing Portia Woodman-Wickliffe, with his production company Seven Bucks Productions partnering with New Zealand’s Pango Productions on the project, titled Undeniable: Portia Woodman.

Directed by Zoë McIntosh, the film will follow Woodman-Wickliffe as she navigates fame and injury while carrying the cultural weight of her Polynesian heritage. Johnson, who lived in New Zealand as a child and played rugby, said he has admired the player for years.

“Portia Woodman-Wickliffe is the perfect trifecta of accomplishment,” Johnson said. “A true pioneering female athlete, one of the greatest rugby players of all time and a straight up, nonnegotiable GOAT bad ass who leads with grit, heart and pride, for not only women’s sports, but for our Polynesian culture as well. I’m proud and pumped to help share her story with the world.”

The documentary arrives with Woodman-Wickliffe’s legacy firmly established. During her playing career she won two Olympic gold medals, two Women’s Rugby World Cups, two Rugby World Cup Sevens titles and a Commonwealth Games gold medal. She has been named World Rugby Women’s Player of the Year in both the 15-a-side and sevens formats and was recognised as World Rugby Women’s Sevens Player of the Decade.

At Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025, she became the all-time leading try-scorer at Rugby World Cups across both the men’s and women’s tournaments — a record that underlines the scale of her achievement in a sport that has historically centred its records on the men’s game.
