Evans and Rose commit to Saracens after PWR title triumph

Premiership Women’s Rugby champions Saracens have confirmed that Wales internationals Georgia Evans and Donna Rose have both re-signed with the North London club following their English title win.

Evans, a versatile back-five forward, joined Saracens in 2020 and made 17 PWR appearances last season as the club claimed its first league title since 2022. The 29-year-old reached a personal milestone last weekend, earning her 50th Test cap for Wales against the USA Women’s Eagles in Cardiff.

Director of Rugby Alex Austerberry praised Evans’s longevity and adaptability. “Georgia is approaching 100 games for the club. This is testament to her quality as a player,” he said. “Those appearances have come across the back five, which illustrates her versatility and ability to play in such abrasive and competitive positions at the highest level. Busy at the breakdown, intense around the park and the ultimate competitor.”

Rose’s journey to the top flight is a compelling one. She arrived at StoneX Stadium in 2019 from Trojans Rugby Club, where she made more than 150 appearances, and had worked as a carpenter before entering the English top flight. Austerberry and his coaching staff converted her from the back row to tighthead prop, and she made her Wales debut in 2021. She has since represented her country at two Women’s Rugby World Cups.

“Donna is a very physical player who plays with incredible heart, passion and industry,” Austerberry said. “Having joined Saracens in 2019, Donna has developed into an outstanding tighthead who contributes not only at set-piece time but also in the loose. I have no doubt that her contribution on and off the field will continue to have a significant impact.”

Austerberry also highlighted Rose’s role in developing younger players at the club, describing her desire to mentor front-row forwards as a key part of her value beyond match days.
