Cardona crowned Ligue 2 Player of the Month for August with 4 goals and 2 assists
The UNFP has awarded Irvin Cardona the trophy for best player of August in Ligue 2. The Saint-Étienne striker scored 4 goals and provided 2 assists in four matches, winning 60% of the vote.
Irvin Cardona has been elected best player of August in Ligue 2 by the UNFP, the professional footballers’ union, thanks to a series of four convincing matches in a Saint-Étienne shirt.
The 29-year-old striker compiled 4 goals and 2 assists over the period, winning the vote decisively with 60% of the votes. His teammate Jakob Breum finished second with 25%, ahead of Ibrahima Baldé (15%). This is the fourth UNFP Trophy of his career in Ligue 2.
This distinction comes in a generally positive context for the Greens, who had started the season with five consecutive victories before suffering two setbacks: a defeat at Dunkerque (1-2) and a draw conceded at Metz (2-2), when ASSE was leading by two goals twenty minutes from the end. The international break therefore comes at a timely moment to allow the club to recover before the resumption.
