Lucas Chevalier could leave Paris Saint-Germain as early as this summer, just one year after his arrival. Signed for €40 million from Lille, the 24-year-old goalkeeper is on Aston Villa’s shortlist, according to journalist Romain Collet-Gaudin.

Chevalier’s Paris adventure has quickly unraveled. Presented as the successor to Gianluigi Donnarumma — pushed toward the exit despite a convincing European campaign — the goalkeeper under contract until 2030 failed to meet expectations during his first months at the club. He ultimately surrendered his starting spot to the unexpected Matvey Safonov, losing his selection for the World Cup in the process.

On the Birmingham side, Aston Villa is looking to anticipate a possible departure of Emiliano Martinez. The Argentine had already tried to force his transfer last summer without success, and the situation could break open this season. The club, winner of the Europa League and qualified for next season’s Champions League, is also targeting young Ibrahim Mbaye to strengthen its defensive sector.

For Chevalier, a move to England would represent an opportunity to regain playing time at the highest level and revive an international career compromised by this difficult season. Everything will depend on concrete offers that reach PSG in the coming weeks.
