Injured Raphinha misses Barcelona's trip to Galatasaray
Raphinha suffered a right thigh injury during the international break with Brazil and will miss Barcelona's Champions League match against Galatasaray in Istanbul on Tuesday evening. Frenkie de Jong, Andreas Christensen and Roony Bardghji are also unavailable.
Raphinha will not travel to Istanbul. The Barcelona captain, who suffered a right thigh injury during the Brazilian national team gathering, has been ruled out of the squad by Hansi Flick for the Champions League match against Galatasaray on Tuesday evening in Turkey.
The winger, already absent from the 3-0 victory against Getafe in La Liga on Saturday, was expected to return to the Barcelona starting XI. The German manager ultimately chose not to take any risks with his attacker, despite the importance of the match.
Raphinha is not the only absentee in the Barcelona ranks. Frenkie de Jong, Andreas Christensen and Roony Bardghji are also sidelined and will not travel to Turkey. To compensate for these absences, Hansi Flick has included young players Hamza Abdelkarim and Brian Farinas in his squad.
Barcelona approaches this second league phase match on a positive run, after crushing Feyenoord on matchday one. But the trip to Istanbul promises to be far more challenging, with a depleted squad facing Galatasaray playing at home.
