Bellingham sends England to World Cup semi-final as Beckhams lead Wonderwall celebrations
Jude Bellingham's goal in extra time sealed a 2-1 victory over Norway at the 2026 World Cup, sending Thomas Tuchel's England to a fourth-ever semi-final. David and Romeo Beckham were among those singing Wonderwall with fans after the final whistle.
Jude Bellingham’s extra-time strike sent England into a fourth-ever World Cup semi-final on Saturday 11 May, as Thomas Tuchel’s side edged past Norway 2-1 in a tense last-eight tie.
The result continued England’s run at the 2026 tournament and set up a semi-final meeting with either Argentina or Switzerland on Wednesday evening.
After the final whistle, the celebrations spilled into the stands, where David Beckham and his son Romeo joined supporters in a rendition of Oasis’s Wonderwall — a song that has become an unofficial anthem of England’s campaign. The England squad has made a habit of singing it back to fans after victories throughout the tournament.
Bellingham’s decisive contribution underlined his status as England’s most influential player at the tournament, with his goal proving the difference after 90 minutes could not separate the two sides.
England have now reached the semi-finals of a World Cup for only the fourth time in their history, with the prospect of a place in the final now firmly in sight.
