The summer transfer window closes on 1 September, and several of Europe’s biggest clubs are still actively pursuing late deals that could significantly alter the shape of the 2026/27 season.

Bradley Barcola to Liverpool

Liverpool’s pursuit of PSG winger Bradley Barcola has been one of the defining sagas of the summer. The Reds have yet to submit a formal bid, but negotiations are ongoing. PSG are seeking around £145m for the 23-year-old Frenchman, while Liverpool are hoping to agree a fee closer to £120m. Barcola was notably absent from the PSG squad for the French Super Cup, with manager Luis Enrique declining to comment on his future — a signal that a departure remains possible before the month is out.

Enzo Fernandez to Manchester City

Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez endured a turbulent summer that included a sending off and a defeat in the World Cup final, and the Argentine has previously indicated he would be open to leaving Stamford Bridge. New City head coach Enzo Maresca is a known admirer of his former player. Chelsea set an internal deadline of 14 August for bids and, with that date passed, currently expect Fernandez to stay — but City could yet test their resolve with an offer near Chelsea’s £120m valuation before the window shuts.

Kenan Yildiz to Arsenal

Arsenal’s pursuit of Vinicius Jr ended without a deal, but the Gunners remain determined to add a left-sided forward. Attention has turned to Juventus winger Kenan Yildiz, with the Türkiye international valued at over £60m by the Serie A club. Negotiations are at an early stage, though Arsenal’s need in that position gives the talks added urgency.

The Wider Picture

Beyond those headline moves, clubs across the Premier League are working to complete their squads. Newcastle and Aston Villa face the additional pressure of replacing outgoing stars, while Manchester United and Manchester City are both understood to be seeking further reinforcements.

Earlier in the window, Barcelona’s signing of Rodri and the moves of Morgan Rogers, Elliot Anderson and Bruno Guimarães attracted significant attention. But with just over a week remaining, the final days of the window could yet produce some of the summer’s most consequential business.
