Bradley Barcola is set to make his Liverpool debut on Friday night at Ipswich Town in the Premier League, following a transfer from Paris Saint-Germain valued at €145 million including bonuses.

Asked about the Reds’ new winger, Thierry Henry delivered a detailed analysis of the 23-year-old’s strengths and areas for development. The 1998 World Cup winner first stressed the importance of making the most of his profile. “With Barcola, the key is knowing how to use him. Can we create one-on-one situations? And also, can we involve him in counter-attacks? Because he has lightning-quick pace,” he said.

Henry also issued an indirect warning to Ipswich’s new manager Andoni Iraola about the player’s defensive duties. “Should he defend more than attack? That could be counterproductive for him,” said the former France U-21 coach.

On the attacking front, Henry identified finishing as Barcola’s main area for progression. “I would say Barcola needs to improve his finishing. If he manages that, many teams will struggle to stop him,” he concluded. A clear warning for Liverpool’s opponents this season.
