Barcola joins Liverpool for €143m, historic record sale for PSG

Bradley Barcola is now a Liverpool player. The transfer of the French international was made official on Monday, for an amount that could reach €143 million depending on bonuses — making him PSG’s biggest sale in history, ahead of the €90 million received when Neymar left for Al-Hilal.

Barcola left PSG after three seasons and two Ligue des Champions victories, with the ambition of playing a more central role at a top club. The former Lyon player, who arrived in Paris at age 20, leaves with 13 trophies on his record. “It’s a great honour to be able to play for Liverpool. It took a long time, but I’m really happy today,” he said. “Above all, winning the Premier League — it’s one of my biggest dreams.”

The player also spoke about the weight of Anfield in his decision. “I had the chance to play twice in this stadium and I was able to see the atmosphere and the unwavering support of the supporters for Liverpool players. When I found out Liverpool was interested in me, I didn’t ask any questions.”

On the Paris side, the separation is on good terms. In a statement, PSG praised “the talent and emotions” offered by Barcola to its supporters, adding that the club wished him “the best for the rest of his career.” After several weeks of negotiations, the summer transfer saga closes with a record transfer for the capital club.
