Ballon d'Or winner Kane signs contract extension at Bayern Munich until 2029
Harry Kane has committed his future to Bayern Munich, signing a contract extension that keeps the England captain in Germany until 2029 — just nine days after he was awarded the Ballon d'Or.
Harry Kane has signed a contract extension at Bayern Munich, tying the England captain to the German club until 2029. The deal was confirmed nine days after Kane beat Lamine Yamal and Kylian Mbappé to the Ballon d’Or, the award recognising his outstanding goalscoring season for the Bundesliga side.
Kane expressed his desire to remain in Munich long-term, citing the club, its supporters, and the city itself as key factors in his decision. “I feel right at home at FC Bayern,” he said. “I love the club, the fans and the city of Munich.”
The striker also pointed to the quality of the squad and the influence of manager Vincent Kompany as reasons for his commitment. “We have a fantastic team and, in Vincent Kompany, a fantastic manager. It makes me very proud to be part of this club. My whole family is very happy here. I was keen to stay.”
Kane added that he is now focused on adding silverware to his individual honours. “I’m looking forward to the future and I want to win many more titles with this great club.”
The extension cements Kane’s status as the centrepiece of Bayern’s long-term project under Kompany, who took charge of the club ahead of the current season. Kane arrived at the Allianz Arena from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2023 and quickly established himself as one of the most prolific strikers in European football, breaking the Bundesliga’s single-season scoring record in his debut campaign.
