Ronaldo's Almería donate full match ticket revenue to family of Jesus de Miguel
UD Almería, the Spanish second-division club partly owned by Cristiano Ronaldo, will give all ticket proceeds from their home game against Tenerife to the family of Jesus de Miguel, the 30-year-old who died on Tuesday following an on-pitch incident.
UD Almería have announced they will donate all ticket revenue from their home match against CD Tenerife to the family of Jesus de Miguel, the 30-year-old footballer who died on Tuesday after an incident during a Spanish second-division game between Tenerife and Andorra.
The club, which is partly owned by Cristiano Ronaldo following his acquisition of a 25 per cent stake in February, confirmed the gesture in a statement on their official social media accounts. The initiative was launched on the personal initiative of club president Mohammed Al Khereiji.
“Driven by our sense of social and humanitarian responsibility, and by our firm conviction of the importance of solidarity and of standing alongside all members of the football community, especially at such difficult times,” the club said, “UD Almeria has decided to allocate all of the ticket revenue from its home match against CD Tenerife, corresponding to matchday 34, to support the family of Jesus de Miguel.”
Almería acknowledged in their statement that no financial gesture could compensate for the loss of a loved one, but said they believed football extended beyond the boundaries of the pitch. “Compassion, solidarity and mutual support in difficult moments are among the most important values that unite the football family,” the club added.
As part of the initiative, Almería also extended an invitation to De Miguel’s family to attend the match, describing it as “a gesture of our sincere support and solidarity at such a difficult time.”
De Miguel’s death has sent shockwaves through Spanish football. The 30-year-old suffered a serious injury during an on-pitch challenge in the second-division fixture and passed away on Tuesday.
Almería were taken over by a Saudi investment group in May 2025, with Ronaldo holding his minority stake in the club since earlier in the year.
