The nominees for the 2026 Ballon d’Or will be officially unveiled on September 8, the trophy organizer announced. Thirty players will be in contention for the men’s award, as in previous editions, ahead of the ceremony scheduled for October 26 in London — and not in Paris for the first time.

Who will succeed Ousmane Dembélé on the roll of honor? The suspense remains intact with less than two months to go. Among the regularly cited candidates are Rodri, Lamine Yamal, Kylian Mbappé, Michael Olise, Harry Kane, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Lionel Messi, as well as the defending champion himself.

In total, twelve awards will be presented during the London evening. The jury will be composed of one representative per country among the 100 best nations in the men’s FIFA ranking and the 50 best in the women’s ranking. Each voter will have to draw up a top 10 based on three criteria defined by the organizer: individual performances and their decisive nature, collective results and trophies won, as well as class and fair play on and off the pitch.
