Arsenal target up to ten players as Arteta eyes two deals ahead of Man Utd
Arsenal are monitoring as many as ten players ahead of the summer transfer window, with Mikel Arteta's side reportedly set to compete with Manchester United for West Ham midfielder Mateus Fernandes and Leicester City teenager Jeremy Monga.
Arsenal are tracking up to ten players ahead of the summer transfer window, with Mikel Arteta reportedly poised to compete with Manchester United for at least two of those targets, according to the Daily Mail.
The Gunners enter the window as Premier League title holders but will also be looking to regroup after a Champions League final defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, who eliminated Arsenal in a penalty shootout. Arteta is understood to prioritise additions in midfield and attack, with a winger and potentially a striker among the most pressing needs.
West Ham midfielder Mateus Fernandes and Leicester City prospect Jeremy Monga — a 16-year-old attracting attention from several clubs — are both said to be targets that Arsenal and Manchester United are pursuing simultaneously.
Newcastle United pair Sandro Tonali and Tino Livramento have also been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium, though prising either player from St James’ Park would require significant transfer fees. Aston Villa and England midfielder Morgan Rogers is another known target, with Villa understood to value him at around £80 million.
Bournemouth forward Eli Junior Kroupi, who scored 13 goals in his first full Premier League season, is on Arsenal’s radar, though the expectation is that he will remain at Bournemouth unless a substantial offer arrives. Brentford striker Igor Thiago, who netted 22 goals for the Bees last season, is also said to be admired by the club.
Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez features on Arsenal’s wishlist, but Barcelona are reported to be the Argentine’s preferred destination, with Paris Saint-Germain also monitoring his situation. Marcus Rashford has been mentioned as a potential option should the Manchester United forward not secure a permanent move to Barcelona following his loan spell there.
Real Madrid teenager Victor Valdepenas, a 19-year-old defender, has additionally been flagged as a possible target, though whether the Spanish club would sanction his departure remains uncertain.
