A one-of-one Kimi Antonelli rookie card sold for $878,400 at auction through Goldin on 17 October, making it the second most expensive Formula 1 trading card ever sold, days before the 20-year-old Mercedes driver could clinch the world championship in Austin.

The card — a 2025 Topps Chrome F1 Chrome Autographs SuperFractor numbered 1/1 and graded GEM MINT 10 by PSA — attracted 34 bids and closed just $21,600 short of the all-time F1 card record. That benchmark belongs to a 2020 Topps Chrome F1 SuperFractor 1/1 of Lewis Hamilton, graded PSA 7, which fetched $900,000 through the same platform in May 2022, according to Card Ladder data reported by Sports Illustrated.

Goldin described the Antonelli card as the “Holy Grail” of his Formula 1 career. It features the Italian’s autograph in blue ink and Topps’ gold SuperFractor finish, with only a single copy in existence.

The sale was the highest of any sports card that week and more than four times the previous record for an Antonelli card — a Topps Dynasty patch rookie that sold for $201,910, also through Goldin. The same auction included a 2025 Topps Chrome F1 Red Refractor of Antonelli, numbered 5/5 and graded PSA 9, which card-collecting account Strictly Turn One reports sold for $128,100 — up from $5,000 on eBay in February.

The surge in collector demand reflects Antonelli’s remarkable rise. In only his second Formula 1 season, the Italian arrives at the United States Grand Prix in Austin holding a 102-point lead over Mercedes team-mate George Russell. He can seal the title on Sunday if he wins and Russell finishes outside the top eight, with Hamilton outside the top four.

At 20, a championship would make Antonelli the youngest world champion in Formula 1 history, surpassing the record Sebastian Vettel set in 2010.
