Andrey Santos set for Man United debut as £50m signing joins Wrexham friendly squad
Manchester United have named a 25-man squad for Saturday's pre-season friendly against Wrexham in Helsinki, with summer signing Andrey Santos poised for his first appearance. Benjamin Sesko is absent as he continues to recover from a shin injury.
Andrey Santos could make his Manchester United debut on Saturday after the club named the Brazilian midfielder in their 25-man squad for a pre-season friendly against Wrexham in Helsinki, Finland.
Santos, 22, became United’s first signing of the summer when he joined from Chelsea in a £50 million deal, and the Helsinki fixture represents his earliest opportunity to feature under his new club’s colours.
Notably absent from the travelling party is Benjamin Sesko. The Slovenian striker is continuing his own recovery programme after picking up a shin injury towards the end of last season and was not included in the squad.
Youri Tielemans, who completed a £35 million move from Aston Villa, will also have to wait for his first appearance. The 29-year-old Belgian is currently on holiday following the conclusion of his transfer and was not part of the group heading to Finland.
With several first-team regulars either still involved in international tournaments or on post-season breaks, the squad has a strong youth flavour. Defenders Harry Amass and Shea Lacey are among the academy prospects hoping to press their claims, while Jaydan Kamason is expected to see time at right-back in the absence of Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui.
In midfield, Jacob Devaney, Dan Gore, Jim Thwaites, and brothers Tyler and Jack Fletcher are all in contention for minutes. Up front, with Sesko unavailable, academy forwards Chido Obi and Ethan Wheatley could be handed opportunities at centre-forward, though JJ Gabriel was not included in the squad.
Mason Mount and Joshua Zirkzee are among the more experienced names in the group, alongside summer arrival Bryan Mbeumo.
Manchester United squad to face Wrexham:
Goalkeepers: Tom Heaton, Radek Vitek, Dermot Mee.

Midfielders: Mason Mount, Andrey Santos, Jack Fletcher, Tyler Fletcher, Toby Collyer, Dan Gore, Jacob Devaney, Jim Thwaites.
Forwards: Joshua Zirkzee, Bryan Mbeumo, Chido Obi, Ethan Wheatley, Shea Lacey, Ethan Williams.
