Anderson and Detourbet in, Bernardo and Stones out: Man City's full 2026 summer transfer tracker
Manchester City have spent £137.5m bringing in Elliot Anderson and Mathys Detourbet while losing Bernardo Silva and John Stones on free transfers, with Nathan Ake's £8.5m move to Fenerbahce the latest confirmed departure.
Manchester City’s 2026 summer rebuild is well under way, with £137.5m spent on two arrivals and nine players already confirmed as departures — including the free-transfer exits of long-serving duo Bernardo Silva and John Stones.
The headline move of the window so far is the £116m signing of Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest, making the England midfielder officially a Blue and City’s most expensive acquisition of the summer. Alongside him, 19-year-old Mathys Detourbet has arrived from Troyes for £21.5m, though he has immediately been loaned to AS Monaco to continue his development.
On the outgoings side, Nathan Ake’s departure to Fenerbahce — confirmed on Saturday — is the deal that triggered the latest update. The Dutch centre-back joins for an initial £7m, rising to a potential £8.5m. He is one of three centre-backs to have left the Etihad this summer, with Manu Akanji heading to Inter Milan for £13m and Jahmai Simpson-Pusey moving on for a fee that could reach £6.4m.
The free-transfer losses carry significant weight. Bernardo Silva’s exit ends a seven-year association with the club, while Stones departs after a decade at the Etihad. Academy products Ashton Muir and Ezra Carrington have also left on free transfers, and Isaac Smith has joined Barnsley for an undisclosed fee.
Sporting director Hugo Viana still has considerable work ahead. New head coach Enzo Maresca is understood to want reinforcements at right-back and on the wing, as well as an additional midfielder, meaning the squad could look markedly different again by the time the season begins. Players including Savinho, Rico Lewis, and Nico Gonzalez have been linked with exits as City continue to reshape their roster for a second successive summer.
