Adzic denies Juventus victory as Zhegrova's brace twice levels the score at Sassuolo
Author of a brace in the 82nd and 90+1 minutes, Edon Zhegrova brought Juventus level twice, but Sassuolo sealed a 3-2 victory in added time thanks to Adzic (90+4), condemning the Turin side to eighth place.
Sassuolo beat Juventus 3-2 on Sunday evening in Serie A, thanks to a goal from Adzic in the 90+4 minute that wiped out Edon Zhegrova’s brace and denied the Turin side a move to the top of the championship.
The scenario is particularly bitter for the Kosovo international, who was making his 30th appearance in the bianconero shirt. Zhegrova had brought Juventus level at 2-2 in the 82nd minute after Sassuolo opened the scoring through Esposito (65’), then equalized a second time at 90+1 after Bowie’s goal (89’). Each time, the Neroverdi responded, and it was ultimately Adzic who struck the final blow in stoppage time.
A victory at Sassuolo would have propelled the Old Lady to the top of Serie A on this fourth matchday. Instead, Juventus finds itself in eighth place in the standings, three points behind the summit, with Sassuolo now ahead of them in the table.
