Real Madrid defender Raul Asencio has been acquitted of charges of distributing sexually explicit content that had weighed on him since September 2023. The criminal court in Las Palmas pronounced his acquittal after the two victims declared they forgave the four people involved, according to information published Thursday by Spanish sports daily AS.

One of the two young women appearing in the disputed videos was a minor at the time of the facts. It was the mother of the latter who filed the complaint, triggering the opening of an investigation. Raul Asencio, who risked up to five years in prison, had attempted to obtain the dismissal of the case in February 2025 after being charged, without success at the time.

The situation of the three other Real Madrid players involved in the case remains unchanged. Ferrán Ruiz, Juan Rodríguez and Andrés García remain accused of child sexual abuse material offences. The court suspended the hearing after learning of the complainants’ statements: the case is therefore not closed for them.

For Asencio, whose emergence within the Madrid club had raised high expectations, this judicial outcome ends two years of proceedings that had cast a shadow over the start of his professional career.
