Khvicha Kvaratskhelia suffered an anterior cruciate ligament tear in his right knee during PSG’s 4-2 victory over FC Barcelona in the Champions League league phase on Tuesday. The Georgian winger joins two other Paris squad members on the injury list after an evening that brought as much benefit as it did cost to the capital club.

While some voices have suggested a possible return before the end of the season, observer Gilles Favart dismisses that hope outright. In an exchange with Pierre Ménès, he was clear: “It’s really a very serious injury because we won’t see him again this year. Don’t come and tell me he’s going to play after six months. Don’t come and tell me that kind of nonsense about ACL injuries. Because I’ve heard that my whole life and it’s complete nonsense.”

For Favart, the timeline is unambiguous: “We won’t see him before August or next year. That’s it, it’s that simple.” The Georgian, considered a candidate for the 2026 Ballon d’Or, will therefore miss the final stretch of a season in which PSG remains engaged on multiple fronts.

Faced with this prolonged absence, the Paris staff is considering a winter transfer to compensate for the loss of one of its most decisive players. Kvaratskhelia, for his part, has assured his supporters that he will do everything to return stronger as soon as possible.
