Spain have been the stingiest side in the competition, posting three clean sheets in the group stage before shutting out Austria 3-0 and Portugal 1-0 in the knockout rounds. They came through a tighter quarterfinal against Belgium, winning 2-1.

England progressed unbeaten from Group L and survived a testing knockout run: a 2-1 win over DR Congo, a 3-2 victory against Mexico, and a hard-fought 2-1 extra-time win over Norway in the quarterfinals. Jude Bellingham scored both goals against Norway and, alongside captain Harry Kane, has six goals in the tournament.
Argentina swept Group J and have shown resilience throughout the knockout stage, surviving Cape Verde 3-2 in extra time, rallying from behind to beat Egypt 3-2, and edging Switzerland 3-1 in extra time in the quarterfinals. Messi set the World Cup all-time assists record during the run to the last four and remains level with Mbappé on eight goals.
