Scarlets back Macs Page has been called into the Wales squad for the November Nations Championship window after Rio Dyer was ruled out with a hamstring injury sustained during the Dragons’ match against Ospreys last Saturday.

Dyer, 26, picked up the injury in the act of scoring and will miss Wales’ home Tests against Japan, New Zealand and Australia in Cardiff. The winger has scored eight tries in 24 Tests since his debut in 2022, but has now missed the Six Nations, the Southern Hemisphere phase of the Nations Championship, and the upcoming November series through a combination of non-selection and injury.

Page, 21, had not been included in the original squad but comes in with a reputation that has drawn comparisons to Wales legend Shane Williams. The Pembrokeshire-raised back stands 5‘8” and has scored seven tries in an impressive start to the season for the Scarlets, combining pace and physicality on the wing. He can also operate at outside centre.

His call-up is not without complication. Page suffered a head injury against the Stormers at the weekend and must clear return-to-play HIA protocols before he can be considered for selection. He was part of Wales’ touring party to Japan in 2025 but did not feature in any of the matches.

Should he pass the necessary clearance, Page would become the eighth Scarlet in head coach Steve Tandy’s squad, joining Blair Murray, Ellis Mee, Eddie James, Joe Hawkins, Sam Costelow, Taine Plumtree and Ryan Elias.

Wales’ updated 39-man squad is captained by hooker Dewi Lake and also includes experienced campaigners such as Tomas Francis (82 caps), Aaron Wainwright (70 caps) and Tomos Williams (75 caps), alongside several uncapped players in Rhys Barratt, Che Hope and Aneurin Owen.
