Unbeaten Hokit demolishes Derrick Lewis in two rounds to call out Pereira
Josh Hokit improved to 10-0 with a commanding second-round knockout of Derrick Lewis at UFC White House on Sunday, finishing the fight at 4:09 with a flurry of punches before immediately calling out light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira.
Josh Hokit extended his unbeaten record to 10-0 with a dominant second-round stoppage of Derrick Lewis at UFC White House on Sunday, finishing the veteran heavyweight at 4:09 of round two and wasting no time in demanding a shot at Alex Pereira.
Hokit controlled the fight from the opening bell, opening with leg kicks before transitioning to a slick takedown that brought Lewis to the canvas. Once on the ground, Hokit unleashed relentless ground and pound, with punches slipping through Lewis’ guard at will. A heavy elbow opened a cut on Lewis’ head, and Hokit moved into mount to continue the assault before rolling for an armbar submission attempt that ran out of time as the round ended.
The second round offered Lewis little relief. After breaking free from a takedown attempt with a pair of uppercuts, Lewis was quickly put back on the defensive as Hokit tagged him with a sharp combination that left him on unsteady legs. Hokit pinned Lewis against the cage and worked him over with dirty boxing before unleashing the final combination that crumpled Lewis to the floor. The referee stepped in with no choice but to wave it off.
“I’m the man with the plan. The beast that’s ready to feast,” Hokit declared after the finish. “Now listen, Alex Pereira, I want to chama on your mama.”
Now 4-0 inside the UFC, Hokit has built a legitimate case as one of the division’s most compelling heavyweights. Lewis, meanwhile, looked a shadow of the knockout artist who once terrorised the division, and Sunday’s performance raised serious questions about where “The Black Beast” goes from here.
With options narrowing for Hokit at his current level, a title-contention conversation may not be far away — though a matchup with Pereira, who holds the light heavyweight belt, would require a division jump that remains purely speculative for now.
