Unbeaten Bilal Hasan embraces UFC's rapid pace ahead of MSG debut at UFC 334
Flyweight prospect Bilal Hasan planned to ease into his UFC career, but three fights in four months have accelerated his timeline. The 10-0 fighter faces Luis Gurule at UFC 334 on 14 November at Madison Square Garden.
Bilal Hasan arrived in the UFC expecting a gentle introduction. What he got was a schedule that left little time to breathe — and the unbeaten flyweight says he would not have it any other way.
Hasan earned his UFC contract with a 45-second technical knockout on Dana White’s Contender Series in August. Just 18 days later, the promotion placed him on the main card in Shanghai, where he delivered a second-round knockout on debut. Now, barely months after that contract signing, he is preparing for a second UFC outing: a flyweight bout against Luis Gurule (11-4) at UFC 334 on 14 November at Madison Square Garden in New York.
“I said it right after my Contender Series fight, ‘I need just maybe one more fight before the end of this year. I want to take it super slow; I want to build all this,’” Hasan told Full Mount MMA. “The UFC put me on a rocket ship. They’re like, ‘Hey, in 18 days, do you want to go open up the main card in Shanghai?’ And then I said yes. Right after that, they’re like, ‘Hey, do you want to fight again before the end of the year?’ I said yes.”
Hasan, who carries a record of 10-0 with one no-contest, said the pace reflects exactly the opportunity he had been working toward. Rather than pushing back against the compressed timeline, he has leaned into it.
“This is what I am meant to do. I’m in the UFC, I’m healthy, thank God. So, let’s run it. Let’s put on these performances while I can, while I’m young,” he said.
Standing opposite him at MSG will be Gurule, a veteran with 11 professional wins who provides a meaningful step up in UFC experience. For Hasan, the fight represents another chance to build momentum inside the world’s biggest MMA promotion — on one of the sport’s most iconic stages.
