Two straight defeats at OM: Genesio already under pressure after a quiet transfer window

Olympique de Marseille suffered their second consecutive Ligue 1 defeat on Sunday evening, losing 2-3 to Paris FC at the Vélodrome, a week after falling to Monaco (0-2). Bruno Genesio, appointed manager this summer, is already under pressure after just three matches in charge of the club.

At the final whistle, frustration among supporters was evident around the stadium. Questioned by La Provence, one fan did not mince words: “We need to sound the alarm, we need to wake up. It’s crazy to play a match like that.” Others pointed the finger at the club’s management, criticizing the summer transfer window: “The problem is more at the management level, they’re managing poorly. A few years ago, we said we were among the richest clubs in Europe. Today, we find ourselves selling everyone, playing with the reserves, there’s no bench.” The same supporter even predicted the manager’s departure: “I think in three, four matches, he won’t be here anymore.”

Not all fans share this pessimism. Some are calling for patience with a coach who has not yet had time to make his mark. “Strength to Genesio, it’s only been three matches, let’s give him time,” said another supporter, while a third simply offered: “Good luck Bruno.”

The context remains concerning nonetheless. OM recorded no signings during the summer transfer window, several key players left the club during the summer, and the squad clearly lacks depth. With two defeats in two league matches, Genesio will need to find answers quickly to prevent the pressure, already perceptible, from becoming uncontrollable.
