Two PFL San Diego fighters face six-month suspensions after possible fractures
The California State Athletic Commission has issued medical suspensions following PFL San Diego, with featherweight Khasan Magomedsharipov and prelim fighter Ilara Joanne each facing potential 180-day layoffs due to suspected fractures.
The California State Athletic Commission released its full list of medical suspensions from PFL San Diego on Monday, with two fighters facing potential six-month absences after suffering possible fractures during Saturday’s card.
Featherweight Khasan Magomedsharipov, who defeated Joshua Weems on the night, left the event with a possible orbital bone fracture. He has been handed a 180-day suspension unless cleared by a physician. Prelim fighter Ilara Joanne faces the same 180-day ban after sustaining a possible fracture to her right knee, along with a separate 60-day suspension contingent on physician clearance for a laceration to her right eye. Joanne also received a mandatory 45-day suspension with 30 days of no-contact following a TKO loss.
In the main event, A.J. McKee earned a dominant decision victory over Salamat Isbulaev but was issued a 60-day suspension unless cleared by a physician for a laceration to his left eye. Isbulaev received an identical 60-day conditional suspension for the same injury, along with a 45-day suspension and 30 days of mandatory no-contact.
The only fighter handed an indefinite suspension was main card opener Abraham Bably, who must undergo both an MRI and a CT scan before being cleared to compete. Bably also received a mandatory 45-day suspension with 30 days of no-contact following his TKO loss.
Several other fighters on the card received standard mandatory rest periods. Sarvardzhon Hamidov and Justin Wetzell were each given 60-day conditional suspensions for lacerations — to the nasal area and forehead respectively — alongside seven-day mandatory rest. Liz Carmouche, Viviane Araujo, Alexander Shabliy, Alfie Davis, Rob Wilkinson, Joshua Weems, Jena Bishop, Ariane da Silva, Shannon Clark, and Cobey Fehr all received seven-day mandatory suspensions.
Magomedsharipov and Joanne’s return timelines will depend entirely on medical clearance, meaning both could be sidelined for the full six months if their fractures are confirmed.
