McKee rehydrates to 171 pounds after weighing in at 145 for PFL San Diego main event
Fight night weights released by the California State Athletic Commission reveal A.J. McKee gained 25.8 pounds between his Friday weigh-in and Saturday's PFL San Diego main event, ultimately stepping into the cage at 171.4 pounds against Salamat Isbulaev.
A.J. McKee tipped the scales at 171.4 pounds when he walked into the cage at PFL San Diego on Saturday — 25.8 pounds heavier than the 145.6 he registered at Friday’s official weigh-in. The figures were released on Monday by the California State Athletic Commission as part of its ongoing effort to monitor extreme weight cutting in combat sports.
McKee, who defeated Salamat Isbulaev by decision to claim the main event, has been open about the difficulty of competing at featherweight. After the win he reiterated that his sole motivation for returning to the 145-pound division was the opportunity to become champion. The fight night data underscores just how much of a physical toll that cut demands of him.
Isbulaev, who suffered the first loss of his professional career, also rehydrated significantly — moving from 145.8 pounds at the weigh-in to 162.5 pounds by fight time, a gain of 16.7 pounds.
In the co-main event, Liz Carmouche submitted UFC veteran Viviane Araujo to extend her winning run in the PFL. Carmouche weighed 126 pounds on Friday and came in at 147 on Saturday, a 21-pound gain. Following the victory, Carmouche called on the PFL to introduce a women’s bantamweight division, citing the strain of cutting to the flyweight limit. Araujo’s rehydration was more modest, moving from 125.8 to 139.1 pounds.
The largest weight gain by percentage on the card belonged to 2025 PFL lightweight tournament champion Alfie Davis. Davis weighed 156 pounds on Friday and ballooned to 185.1 by Saturday — a 29.1-pound gain representing a 19 percent increase — before his bout with Alexander Shabliy.
