Jalin Turner continued his comeback from retirement with a first-round finish of Kaue Fernandes at UFC 330 on 16 August 2026, then used his post-fight platform to honour Edson Barboza, who called time on his career on the same card.

Turner had announced his retirement from mixed martial arts in March 2025 following a submission loss to Ignacio Bahamondes, making his return to the Octagon all the more striking. The finish of Fernandes was his second consecutive first-round stoppage since coming back, with the defeat of Barboza preceding it.

“It’s just been a lot, you know, it’s been a tough road,” Turner said in his post-fight interview. “The retirement was tough. I just want to pay homage to Edson Barboza. He retired tonight. Shout out to him for an amazing career. It was a blessing to share the Octagon with him. And I know how tough that decision is.”

Known as “The Tarantula”, Turner framed his return as something larger than personal ambition, describing a desire to motivate people facing their own difficulties.

“Me being here right now is just about love,” he said. “I just want to help people. I want to shine a light; I’m trying to inspire others no matter what they are going through in life, the ups and downs, as you can always keep pushing and persevering.”

With two finishes now banked since his comeback, Turner called for a ranked lightweight opponent next, signalling that his ambitions inside the Octagon are far from over.
