Toulouse sells Emersonn to Ipswich for €32m, club record transfer
Toulouse FC has sold Brazilian striker Emersonn to promoted English side Ipswich Town for €32 million, smashing the club's transfer record set in 2018 when Issa Diop departed to West Ham for €25m.
Toulouse FC completed the sale of Emersonn to Ipswich Town on Wednesday for €32 million, a sum that erases the club’s six-year-old record and places this transaction in the top 50 biggest departures in Ligue 1 history.
Arriving at Toulouse exactly one year ago from Turkish club Göztepe SK for €3.2 million, the 21-year-old Brazilian striker is therefore leaving for ten times his purchase price. He has signed a five-year contract with the Tractor Boys, running until June 2031.
In one season wearing the violet shirt, Emersonn scored seven goals and provided three assists in 31 matches, establishing himself as one of the championship’s breakout stars. Ipswich Town, promoted to the Premier League following the 2023-2024 season, is banking on him to strengthen their attack ahead of their return to English top-flight football.
Toulouse’s previous transfer record dated from 2018, with defender Issa Diop’s departure to West Ham for €25 million. This sale also surpasses transfers typically reserved for the championship’s heavyweights — PSG, Monaco, Lyon, Marseille, Lille or Rennes — confirming TFC’s ability to identify and develop attacking profiles with strong potential.
