Ilia Topuria has declared he will finish Justin Gaethje in the first round when the pair meet in the lightweight title unification main event at UFC White House on June 14, backing his prediction with a claim that his conditioning extends well beyond the five scheduled rounds.

“I have the stamina to go not for five rounds, but for five days,” Topuria said. “I know how it feels when you’re tired, when you can’t do more, and you never give up. So I’m ready. But I have the complete faith that I am going to finish him in the first round. I just want to make it look beautiful.”

Topuria (17-0) arrives as the undisputed lightweight champion having already conquered two weight classes. After winning and defending the featherweight title, the Georgian-Spaniard moved up to 155 pounds and claimed the lightweight belt, putting three former champions to sleep along the way — Alexander Volkanovski, Max Holloway, and Charles Oliveira.

Gaethje (27-5) enters the contest as the interim lightweight champion and makes his third bid for undisputed UFC gold. His previous two title shots ended in defeat — most recently against Oliveira in 2022 — but he has since gone 4-1, capping that run with a dominant performance over Paddy Pimblett in January to claim the interim strap.

Despite the five-round format, Topuria has shown no interest in a prolonged chess match. His record suggests the confidence is grounded: all 17 of his professional victories have come by stoppage, and his three most recent opponents were all considered elite-level finishers in their own right. Whether Gaethje’s durability and relentless pressure can complicate that blueprint remains the central question heading into June.
