Thierry Henry and Kate Scott to host Ballon d'Or ceremony in London
The CBS Sports duo will present the 70th Ballon d'Or ceremony on October 26 at London Palladium. A first for the former French striker, nominated nine times without ever winning the trophy.
Thierry Henry and British journalist Kate Scott will present the 70th Ballon d’Or ceremony on Monday, October 26 at London Palladium in London. The trophy’s organizers confirmed this duo on Monday. Their chemistry — and their mutual jabs — have earned them international prominence well beyond the American audience.
For Kate Scott, the exercise is familiar. A polyglot — she speaks English, French, Spanish and German — the British journalist had already presented the ceremony last year alongside Ruud Gullit, and had already stood behind the podium in 2014 and 2015.
For Thierry Henry, on the other hand, this will be a major first. 1998 World Cup winner, 2000 European Championship winner and 2009 UEFA Champions League winner with FC Barcelona, the former Arsenal striker was nominated nine times for the Ballon d’Or during his career without ever winning the supreme individual award. He will therefore take to the stage at London Palladium from a different angle.
The name of Ousmane Dembélé’s successor — winner of the last edition — will be revealed during this evening. Suspense remains with a week until the verdict.
