Strickland treats shoulder tear at Austin clinic after Rogan's recommendation
Newly crowned UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland is receiving treatment for a minor right shoulder muscle tear at Ways2Well in Austin, Texas — the same facility Jon Jones used earlier this year for hip arthritis, both on Joe Rogan's recommendation.
Sean Strickland is undergoing treatment for a minor right shoulder muscle tear at Ways2Well in Austin, Texas, following a recommendation from Joe Rogan — the same clinic and the same referral that brought Jon Jones there earlier this year.
Strickland confirmed the injury and his recovery plan on Instagram. “Real small tear,” he said. “Ways2Well, they’re gonna fix me up. Joe Rogan got me to this place, he swears by it. We’re gonna get back in the cage soon.” The 30-7 middleweight added that surgery will not be required.
Jones visited Ways2Well earlier this year, also on Rogan’s recommendation, primarily to address arthritis in his hips.
The shoulder issue emerged shortly after one of the most significant results in recent UFC history. Strickland reclaimed the middleweight title this month with an upset victory over Khamzat Chimaev, a win that few analysts had predicted and that immediately reshaped the division’s landscape.
Chimaev has already signalled his desire for a rematch, but Strickland has indicated he would prefer to make his first defence against Nassourdine Imavov. With no surgery needed, the timeline for his return to competition remains open, though the shoulder will need to heal before any fight date can be confirmed.
