Steven Caulker has been inundated with responses after going public about his job search, receiving 49 offers — among them three concrete employment opportunities — within 48 hours of an emotional LinkedIn post on Sunday.

The 34-year-old retired from professional football in 2025 after a 16-year playing career that included more than 400 club appearances and international caps for both England and Sierra Leone. Since retiring, Caulker moved into coaching and was appointed assistant manager at Turkish Super Lig side Konyaspor in February, but left the role in September and has been out of work since.

In his Sunday post, Caulker described the experience of unemployment with candid honesty. “Being unemployed is stressful. I’ve been here many times before, I’m used to the rollercoaster of emotions, but it doesn’t make it any easier,” he wrote. “Applying for jobs for which I have all the qualifications yet am unable to get even an interview hurts, but that does not mean I should panic.”

He drew on the example of Walt Disney — rejected more than 300 times before his breakthrough — to frame his own resilience, and noted that maintaining structure, including a morning run, was helping him stay composed.

The response was swift. By Tuesday, Caulker updated his followers, crediting “the power of LinkedIn” for a flood of new contacts: more than 30 podcast requests, 12 business investment offers, four event invitations, over 100 messages of support, and three potential job offers spanning different industries.

“One post won’t land me my dream job; consistently showing up and doing the right thing will,” he wrote in the follow-up. Caulker also used the moment to outline his credentials — 123 Premier League appearances across his playing career, two years of coaching experience, a UEFA A licence with Pro licence studies underway, and broadcast work as a pundit across radio and television.

His long-term ambition, he stated plainly, is to manage in the Premier League.
