Sean King III slams Jessie Rosas unconscious in 36 seconds on UFC debut

Sean King III announced his UFC arrival in brutal fashion, knocking out Jessie Rosas with a slam just 36 seconds into the first round of their preliminary bout at Noche UFC on Saturday. King had accepted the fight on nine days’ notice, replacing an opponent to face Rosas — the elder brother of rising UFC prospect Raul Rosas Jr.

The finish came almost immediately after the opening bell. King ducked under a left hand from Rosas and shot for a takedown. As Rosas attempted to defend, King hoisted him into the air and drove him violently into the mat, knocking him out cold on impact. King followed up with ground-and-pound before the referee stepped in to wave off the contest.

The performance was a statement from a fighter who only turned professional last year. At 22 years old, King — nicknamed the “King of New Orleans” — improves to 7-0 with five finishes, adding a UFC knockout to a record that had already drawn attention on the regional circuit.

Stepping in on short notice for a debut in one of the UFC’s marquee annual events, against a fighter with a recognisable surname, was a significant test of King’s composure and readiness. He passed it in under a minute.
