Scotland Women to return to Murrayfield for 2027 Six Nations clash against Ireland
Scottish Rugby has confirmed Scotland Women will play Ireland at Scottish Gas Murrayfield in April 2027, making it the showpiece fixture of their home season. The match will also see the Siobhan Cattigan Trophy contested for the second time.
Scotland Women will return to Scottish Gas Murrayfield for the 2027 Guinness Women’s Six Nations, with the home fixture against Ireland on 10 April confirmed as the centrepiece of the nation’s six-match home programme across the 2026/27 season.
The announcement comes after Scotland set a national record for attendance at a women’s sporting event at Murrayfield earlier this year, when they hosted England’s Red Roses in the final round of the 2026 Women’s Six Nations. That match closed out both teams’ campaigns, and the upcoming Ireland fixture will see the two sides contest the Siobhan Cattigan Trophy for the second time.
Scotland’s remaining Women’s Six Nations home games — against Italy on 8 May and Wales on 15 May — will be staged at Edinburgh Rugby’s Hive Stadium, located on the Murrayfield grounds.
Before the Six Nations, Scotland will host three WXV Global Series fixtures at Hive Stadium in September, facing Canada (12 September), New Zealand (19 September), and Australia (26 September).
Scotland Women captain Rachel Malcolm welcomed the news, highlighting both the significance of the Murrayfield return and the lessons taken from the England defeat earlier this year.
“To get the opportunity to play at Scottish Gas Murrayfield for a second time is another step forward for the women’s game in Scotland,” Malcolm said. “The off-pitch experience, made possible by our incredible fans, was phenomenal, but the performance against England didn’t match up, so having a year to build up to this next opportunity against one of our favourite opponents is exactly what this young squad needs.”
Malcolm also pointed to the WXV series as a significant challenge in its own right, with New Zealand visiting Scotland for the first time adding extra weight to the autumn programme.
“Welcoming New Zealand to Scotland for the first time will be a special opportunity — two proud nations, rich in culture, coming up against each other in our country’s capital,” she said.
The full schedule of Scotland Women’s home fixtures across the 2026/27 season is now confirmed, spanning six matches between September 2026 and May 2027.
