Lana Skeldon has signed a new contract with Bristol Bears, committing to the Premiership Women’s Rugby club for a fourth consecutive season. The 32-year-old Scotland hooker, who has earned 87 caps for her country — starting 84 of them — originally joined Bristol in November 2023 alongside back-row Evie Gallagher after Worcester Warriors folded.

Skeldon missed the opening weeks of the current PWR season through injury but has been a prominent figure in Bristol’s second-half resurgence, contributing to wins over Sale Sharks, Loughborough Lightning, Leicester Tigers and Harlequins.

Head coach Scott Lawson welcomed the news, describing Skeldon as central to the club’s ambitions. “Lana is a hugely important player for us and we’re delighted she’s signed a new deal,” he said. “Her experience, leadership and quality around the squad are invaluable, and since returning from injury, she’s made a massive impact both on and off the field. She sets really high standards every day and brings a huge amount to the environment.”

Skeldon echoed that optimism. “I’m really pleased to be staying at Bears,” she said. “I’ve loved my time at the club and I’m excited about what this group can achieve together. The support from the coaches, staff and players has been brilliant and I’m looking forward to continuing to contribute both on and off the pitch next season.”

The renewal arrives against a backdrop of significant squad turnover at Shaftesbury Park. Bristol confirmed 11 departures last week, including Wales and Scotland internationals Alisha and Jasmine Joyce, Jenna de Vera, Emma Orr, Elliann Clarke and Rhea Clarke. Canada internationals Pamphinette Buisa and Chloe Daniels will also leave after one season. Lawson acknowledged the “changing landscape” of women’s rugby, with centralised union contracts drawing players towards Celtic Challenge sides.

Bristol close out their 2025/26 campaign this weekend away at Gloucester Hartpury’s Kingsholm Stadium. The Bears sit eighth in the league, while Gloucester Hartpury — three-time champions — head into the fixture having suffered their first defeat in 18 months, a loss to Trailfinders Women.
