RugbyPass apologises to US fans after streaming failure mars South Africa women's Test
US rugby supporters were left without live coverage of the South Africa v USA Women's international after a broadcast feed was sent to the wrong destination by an external production supplier, RugbyPass has confirmed.
RugbyPass has issued a public apology to supporters in the United States after a technical failure by an external supplier prevented the South Africa v USA Women’s international from being streamed live to American audiences.
The platform confirmed that a pre-match technical test had been completed successfully and that the required broadcast information was passed to the third-party production team responsible for delivering the live stream. However, when the match began, the live feed was directed to an incorrect destination by the supplier — an error that RugbyPass staff were unable to resolve in time to restore coverage.
“We recognise how disappointing this is for supporters who were looking forward to watching the match live and sincerely apologise for the disruption,” the company said in a statement.
RugbyPass added that it is reviewing its future use of the supplier involved and is taking steps to prevent a repeat of the incident. A full match replay has been made available for fans who missed the live broadcast.
The failure is a significant embarrassment for the streaming service, which holds rights to USA Rugby content and markets itself as a destination for live international rugby. The Women’s Test between South Africa and the USA represented a marquee fixture for the American rugby audience, making the outage particularly damaging for viewer trust.
