Rosenior sparks post-match brawl after goading Strasbourg fans in Paris FC win

Liam Rosenior’s first match back at Strasbourg descended into a post-match melee on Saturday as the Paris FC head coach gestured provocatively towards his former club’s supporters after a 2-1 Ligue 1 victory, triggering a confrontation involving players and staff from both sides.

The 42-year-old had been verbally abused by Strasbourg supporters throughout the game — frustration rooted in his departure from the club earlier this year to take charge of Chelsea, a move that many fans viewed as emblematic of the problems with their shared ownership structure under BlueCo. Rosenior spent just four months at Stamford Bridge before being dismissed, and has since taken over at Paris FC, who are also connected to the BlueCo network.

After the final whistle, Rosenior walked towards the away end and celebrated in front of the Strasbourg supporters. Racing defender Lucas Hogsberg confronted him and urged him to stop, at which point players from both dressing rooms converged on the touchline. A scuffle broke out before Rosenior was led away to celebrate with the home supporters, throwing his arms in the air.

On the pitch, Paris FC had been the better side. Ilan Kebbal opened the scoring in the 18th minute, with Pablo Pagis doubling the lead just before the hour. Strasbourg pulled one back through a Moustapha Mbow own goal in the 88th minute, but it was too little too late — and it was in the moments that followed that the real drama unfolded.

The result leaves Paris FC unbeaten in their opening five Ligue 1 matches and sitting second in the table.

The flashpoint stood in contrast to the measured tone Rosenior had struck in his pre-match press conference, where he spoke warmly about his time in Alsace. “I have a lot to thank — the opportunity that I got in Strasbourg. We had an incredible experience there. Learned a lot from many different people,” he said. “You always want the job you’re in to be a success, and yeah, it hurt to leave a club so early when you feel you can make something very successful. It hurts anyone.”
