Stade de Reims secured their first victory of the season in Ligue 2 by overturning Annecy (3-1) on Monday evening, closing out matchday 3.

After two draws in the opening matches — at Clermont and then against Dunkerque — the Champagne side looked set for a third match without a win. Matteo Veillon had indeed opened the scoring for the visitors in the 32nd minute, leaving Reims struggling in the first half.

The second half changed everything. Annecy goalkeeper Florian Escales first put through his own net in the 53rd minute, handing the home side an equaliser with an own goal. Chamsedin Kouranfal then gave Reims the lead in the 64th minute, before Quentin Paris sealed the score in the 68th to make it 3-1.

Thanks to this victory, Stade de Reims climb to fifth place in the standings. Annecy, who had won their first two matches, drop to fourth.
