Walid Regragui could bounce back in the Netherlands: according to the X account WFCGRONINGEN, generally well-informed on Dutch football news, Feyenoord Rotterdam would have placed him on its list of candidates to succeed Robin van Persie on the bench.

The 50-year-old manager has been without a club since his resignation from the helm of the Moroccan national team, which came after the elimination of the Atlas Lions in the last Africa Cup of Nations. He had nevertheless made an impression by leading Morocco to the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup, a historic first for an African nation.

Since then, his name has circulated in several directions: Saudi Arabia, Ghana, Olympique de Marseille and even Real Madrid have all been mentioned. More recently, Regragui was tipped to take charge of Al-Ittihad after Sergio Conceição’s departure, but Saudi media indicate that his profile was ultimately not retained by the Jeddah club.

Feyenoord would have shortlisted six names for this position, and Regragui would not be the top favourite. According to the same source, it is Sébastien Pocognoli, recently sacked from AS Monaco, who holds the advantage. The Rotterdam club, runners-up in the Dutch championship last season, is qualified for the next Champions League campaign, which gives this recruitment particular weight.

The outcome of this succession remains open, and no official decision has been announced by Feyenoord.
