Florentino Perez has publicly announced his intention to submit an offer of €150 million to a UEFA Champions League club as early as Tuesday — which would constitute the most expensive transfer in Real Madrid’s history. According to Spanish media, the target is Michael Olise, French winger for Bayern Munich.

The Madrid president, who is awaiting the results of his re-election as club leader, confirmed his intentions in an interview with Spanish broadcaster Cuatro. « I will soon make an offer to an important UEFA Champions League club, probably as early as Tuesday. It will be the largest amount ever paid by Real Madrid for a player: €150 million, at least, » he declared.

The newspaper AS clarifies that Perez, if re-elected, will indeed address this proposal to the Bavarians. The executive’s interest in Olise is not new: he had already displayed his admiration for the player during the quarter-finals of the last UEFA Champions League, which saw Real Madrid face Bayern Munich.

The deal promises to be complex for the Merengues, however. Bayern Munich is not a seller: their finances are solid and they are counting on Olise, recruited for €52 million from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2024. The Bavarian club has no structural reason to sell their player, which places Real Madrid in a weak negotiating position.

In case of failure on this deal, Madrid has identified several alternatives. In attack, the names of Erling Haaland and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia are circulating. In midfield, Vitinha and João Neves appear as serious options.
