Real Madrid becomes official partner of Madrid Formula 1 Grand Prix after 45 years away

Real Madrid will be the official partner of the Madrid Formula 1 Grand Prix, taking place September 11–13 on the Madring circuit — marking the return of F1 to the Spanish capital for the first time in 45 years. The club will make several of its facilities available to race organizers.

The proximity between the two sites is no coincidence. The Ciudad Real Madrid, which spans 120 hectares in the northeast of the city, borders the IFEMA exhibition park around which the Madring was laid out. This week, the Merengues players and staff heard single-seaters roaring during their training: these were Formula 3 tests organized on the same circuit, located opposite the Alfredo Di Stéfano Stadium.

The partnership includes notably the provision of VIP spaces within the Grand Prix. Club players are expected to be present during Saturday’s qualifying or Sunday’s race, depending on the schedule of the match at the Bernabéu against Rayo Vallecano. Club legends are also expected for the occasion.

To host the event, organizers invested 200 million euros in the construction of the Madring, whose paddock and stands are integrated within the exhibition park itself. The circuit will be able to accommodate up to 110,000 spectators.
