Paddy Pimblett is carrying 191 pounds seven weeks out from his lightweight contest against Benoit Saint Denis at UFC 329 on July 11, leaving the Liverpool fighter with a 35-pound cut to reach the non-title fight limit of 156 pounds. Pimblett disclosed the figure during a training camp weigh-in posted to his vlog.

The number is striking but not unusual for Pimblett, who has built a reputation for ballooning between fights before arriving on weight when it matters. Across eight UFC appearances he has never missed the mark, and at UFC 324 in January he came in under championship weight at 154 pounds for his interim lightweight title fight against Justin Gaethje.

That bout ended in a unanimous decision loss to Gaethje — Pimblett’s first defeat inside the UFC after seven consecutive victories over opponents including Michael Chandler, Tony Ferguson, and King Green. The loss ended his unbeaten run in the promotion and dropped him a rung on the lightweight ladder.

“It’s nice obviously having an opponent, date set, everything’s ready to go when we’re fighting, know how long I’ve got,” Pimblett said in the vlog footage. “It’s all about making weight and being ready for the fight.”

Saint Denis arrives at UFC 329 in strong form, and a second straight defeat would seriously damage Pimblett’s standing in a lightweight division where title contention is fiercely competitive. For now, the 191-pound number on the scale is simply the starting point of a weight-cut process Pimblett has navigated successfully every time before.
