Pereira targets unprecedented three-division UFC title at White House event
A new UFC promo spotlights Alex Pereira's co-main event clash with Ciryl Gane on June 14, where 'Poatan' can become the first fighter in UFC history to win titles across three weight divisions.
Alex Pereira will attempt to make UFC history on June 14 when he faces Ciryl Gane in an interim heavyweight title fight at UFC White House, held on the South Lawn of the White House. A victory would make the Brazilian the first fighter ever to hold UFC championships across three separate weight classes.
The UFC released a new promotional video on Saturday focusing on the co-main event, replacing an earlier AI-generated trailer with a more detailed look at Pereira’s combat sports career. The clip traces his path from two-division kickboxing champion to two-division UFC champion — first at middleweight, then light heavyweight — and frames the Gane fight as the next step in a career already defined by boundary-pushing achievements.
While the Pereira–Gane bout carries its own historic weight, the main event is a lightweight title unification fight between Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje. The combination of both bouts has positioned UFC White House as the promotion’s marquee event of the year.
Pereira, nicknamed ‘Poatan’, has built one of the most remarkable résumés in combat sports. His ability to move up in weight and capture titles — rather than drop down to chase easier matchups — has drawn widespread attention, and a win over Gane at heavyweight would cement his place as the most decorated champion in UFC history by divisional count.
Gane, the former interim UFC heavyweight champion, represents a significant obstacle. The Frenchman is known for his technical striking and movement, attributes that could test Pereira in ways his previous opponents have not. Whether ‘Poatan’ can replicate his title-winning formula at the sport’s heaviest division remains the central question heading into June 14.
