Perea seals UFC contract with 45-second stoppage in DWCS Week 6 main event
Mayton Perea earned a UFC contract by stopping Zevan Hunt in just 45 seconds in the main event of Dana White's Contender Series Week 6 at Meta Apex in Las Vegas, extending his winning streak to four fights.
Mayton Perea is headed to the UFC after dismantling Zevan Hunt in 45 seconds in the main event of Dana White’s Contender Series Week 6 at Meta Apex in Las Vegas. The Ecuadorian’s rapid-fire finish was enough to convince CEO Dana White to hand him a roster spot on the spot.
The bout barely had time to find a rhythm. Hunt (7-1) briefly secured mount in the opening exchange, but Perea (9-3) fought back to his feet and landed a sharp punch that shifted the momentum entirely. Hunt reached for a leg in desperation, only for Perea to answer with a flurry of elbows and follow-up strikes that left the referee with no choice but to wave it off.
The finish extended Perea’s winning streak to four fights and capped what he described as a lifelong ambition finally realised.
“I have been waiting my entire life; I have been manifesting this and working so hard,” Perea said in his post-fight interview. “It is incredible. It seems like a dream.”
The victory underlines the continued value of the Contender Series as a fast-track route into the UFC. Perea arrived in Las Vegas as a 9-3 regional prospect and left as a signed UFC fighter, his place on the roster secured in less time than it takes to brew a cup of coffee.
