Olympique Marseille Sets Mason Greenwood Price at €55M as Roma and Fenerbahçe Circle
Mason Greenwood scored 26 goals and provided 11 assists last season and is under pressure to leave. Marseille is demanding €55 million, well above Roma's €40 million offer.
Olympique Marseille has set Mason Greenwood’s price at €55 million, with his departure this summer increasingly likely according to Sky Sport. The Phocaean club, which needs liquidity, has no intention of selling its most bankable attacker on the cheap.
Signed from Manchester United for €26 million in July 2024, the 24-year-old English international quickly justified that investment: 26 goals and 11 assists in 45 matches across all competitions last season. Statistics that have naturally whetted appetites across Europe.
AS Roma has already made an offer, but it hovers around €40 million — €15 million short of the threshold set by Marseille’s management. Turkish club Fenerbahçe is also mentioned in the file, though no concrete proposal has yet emerged. Marseille’s board is clear: no loss-making sale, and the deal must be beneficial for all parties.
The financial constraint is real. In the event of a transfer, Marseille will have to return approximately 40% of the total amount to Manchester United, under the clauses negotiated during the initial sale. At €55 million excluding bonuses, Marseille’s net share would be around €33 million, to which any performance bonuses would be added.
Under contract until June 2029, Greenwood is not in a strong position to force a departure, and no public statement from the player has suggested a desire to leave Marseille. The ball is now in the suitors’ court: whoever reaches the €55 million demanded by Marseille will truly open the door to a transfer.
